Our Impact on #GivingTuesday: TechTown

TechTown is a unique, hands-on learning center that launched in my hometown of Chattanooga, TN earlier this year, where nearly 60% of students in the school district qualify for free or reduced lunches and the school district doesn’t have the resources to fund arts programs in many of the schools – both of which speak to a larger problem of accessibility. TechTown is working to remove barriers to the technology, space, and encouragement children need in order to do the important work of playing – discovering, imagining, and developing a love for learning. In DC, I volunteer at Sitar Arts Center to help children in our community explore the arts in ways they might not be able to at school, and I see firsthand how transformative that experience is. I chose to give to TechTown to help make those transformations possible for kids where I grew up.
